A Bruncher Remembers
By Frank Branchini

"When I was growing up I loved listening to the radio.  One of the best gifts I can remember getting from my parents (other than tickets to see The Beatles at Shea - both years!!) was a transistor radio.  I went everywhere with that radio stuck in my ear.  On February 7, 1964 we lived in Croton-on-Hudson in the New York suburbs.  I was in school when The Beatles arrived at JFK and the New York radio stations were providing round the clock coverage of the mania surrounding their arrival.  I was listening  throughout that weekend and primed for the Ed Sullivan Show.  I have been a fan ever since.

US Beatlemania began with the arrival of that Pan Am plan landed in New York.  And it is is hard for me to believe we are approaching the 50th anniversary!

I am so grateful to the boys for all the music and to all of the wonderful friends I have made through their music.

Photos by Bill Epperidge and Harry Benson.  Benson is my favorite Beatles photographer.  I got to meet Benson at an event celebrating the 35th anniversary of US Beatlemania at the Newseum.  He is one of the nicest people I have ever met."

Cheers!

Frank
