Paul Kicks off Tour in Mia 7/8/2017
Joe Johnson
Sir Paul was given a rousing standing ovation as he hit the stage in Miami for the first time in 7 years, but 7 years brought good luck to fans young and "original" who rocked for nearly three hours in pure Miami style. Paul appeared to be moved by the dozens of "Welcome back to Miami" signs that were held up from the first five rows, as he gave a wink and a nod to the fans, realizing perhaps that he should not have waited so long to return to the town that gave him and "The Boys" an 8-day welcome in 1964.

Paul greeted the Miami fans with "Buenos dias Miami", a fitting opening greeted with mucho appreciation by the nearly 20-thousand on their feet when Paul and his band took the stage at 8:30 from the American Airlines Arena

For Brunch host Joe Johnson, the day began mucho earlier as he and 100 Hot Sound Package fans attended the 45-minute run through at 5pm, which included mostly songs NOT featured in the evening show, such as "C-Moon" and "Matchbox". There was even ONE official bit of sound-check business, as one of Abe´s kick drum mics blew out and the band had to stop while the tech crew replaced it.

Many Beatle Brunch Club members and Brunch listeners were in attendance. We all texted each other for our whereabouts before the show, including Margot Winick, the Mayrsohn family, Rick Glover, Jorie Gracen, Joe B, Meagan Paese, Caitlin Larkin and many others.

Paul played his "usual" 38-song set (WOW) and even added a few new ditties and stories, including a touching tribute to Sir George Martin recalling Love Me Do and his usual sentimental tales of George and John, plus got a full-crowd response when he asked, "Is anyone having a birthday today?". The answer of course was Ringo Starr
